Year 5 is an exciting year. Many parents tell us that this is the year in which they notice a big change in their children and their independence during the course of the year.
In preparation for the additional responsibilities they take on in Year 6, our Year 5 children also have their special roles in school, including:
- Organisation of the PE equipment
- Sports Day monitors
- Play leaders
- Deputising for Year 6 children with special roles in their absence
The pace of learning increases in Year 5. The expectation is that the children become more responsible for their own learning and develop good organisational routines and self-help skills.
Our creative curriculum allows children to work in a way that encourages group work, investigative and leadership skills and our topics encourage children’s creativity and imaginations. Our interesting topics include learning about ancient civilisations and exploring the geography of North America.
Highlights in Year 5 include:
- A visit to The British Museum
- A visit to Bushey Synagogue
- Harvest Festival Assembly
