Music Lessons

Music plays an important part in the life of our school. We encourage children to enjoy music, both as participants and audience.

All the children at Ashfield have the opportunity to sing, learn about and play a variety of instruments within their Music lessons.  Our Year 4 children are currently learning the cornet through the Wider Opportunities in Music initiative. In addition to the Music lessons provided within our curriculum, peripatetic music teachers from the Watford School of Music visit the school each week and provide opportunity for children to learn violin, flute, clarinet, brass instruments, guitar and piano. If your child wishes to take instrumental lessons, please contact Herts Music Service (see below) or ask the School Office for further details.

We have a successful choir, which regularly performs in the massed choir events organised by Herts Music Service.  In addition to performances in school at our annual carol service at St James’ Church, our choirs have sung at St Alban’s Abbey,  the Royal Albert Hall and the Watford Colosseum.
