Ashfield is able to offer the following clubs this academic year.   To book a place for your child for any of the after-school clubs listed below, please click on the tabs on the side of this page.

Our after-school sports provision is provided by The Elms Sports in Schools and we have been working in partnership with them for over 10 years.

Elms Sport in Schools

At Jam Coding, our goal is to help improve children’s digital skills.  This game building workshop will teach children how to code and build their very own 3D computer game.  Children will have fun creating interactive animations and games using visual coding.  Working in teams, they will learn how to think logically and solve problems.  At the end of the course, all children will receive a certificate and one team will receive a trophy!

From September 2025, Year 5 children will be able to attend an after-school club run by MTT which provides tuition for Maths and Verbal Reasoning for the 11+ assessments.  Further information on how to join this after-school club can be found on the flyer.

Breakfast Club

Although we do not offer a Breakfast Club on site at Ashfield Junior school, our pupils can attend the Breakfast Club at Merry Hill Infants School (our feeder school).  To book your child for the Breakfast Club, you will need to enquire and apply directly with Merry Hill Infants.   Please contact Merry Hill Infants on 0208 950 2166 or email information@merryhill.herts.sch.uk for more information.  Merry Hill Infants staff will escort all children to Ashfield at 8:35am to ensure that they are registered in school on time.

Wrap-Around Care After-School Club

Although we do not offer a wrap around after-school provision on site at Ashfield Junior school, our pupils can attend the wrap around after-school provision at Merry Hill Infants School (our feeder school).  To book a space for your child, you will need tp apply directly with Merry Hill Infants.   Please contact Merry Hill Infants on 0208 950 2166 or email information@merryhill.herts.sch.uk for more information.  Children who have booked a place at this provision will be escorted to Merry Hill Infants by an adult.

We’re thrilled to announce that the Candice Conway Theatre School (CCTS) will be launching a brand new Drama Club at Ashfield Junior School.

The Drama Club will be on a Friday from 3:20pm to 4:30pm.  Drama is excellent for enhancing communication skills, building confidence and self-expression, developing creativity and improving collaboration and social skills.

Welcome to Kings and Queens Chess club! A fun, enriching chess club that builds children's focus, confidence and problem-solving skills. Each week we learn new chess concepts and players earn points during their games and “level up” from Pawn to King, earning special keyring chess pieces along the way. Every term finishes with a friendly tournament with trophies, medals, and certificates up for grabs! All abilities welcome. 🙂
